I had a very creative morning at home today whilst all my boys were out. My husband took a day’s annual leave to do a 20 mile training run for the first Yorkshire Marathon, his very own first marathon too. Scary proposition for both of us really, although he’s done a LOT of training, he hasn’t kept up with the recommended training planner due to the usual demands of work/life/family/wife. He says he’ll be fine but I’ve been a touch more worried that he’ll do himself an injury! I was the one making sure he had plasters on his nipples this morning whilst he kept telling me to stop fussing. However he surprised us both by getting round in three hours and thirty six minutes. I am quietly very proud of him. He is running for Macmillan Cancer Support and if you feel like supporting this cause this is his JustGiving page – he only needs another £45 to reach his target. York is our spiritual home as we got married there and we had our post-wedding photos in the Museum gardens. What a beautiful setting, perfect for both marathons and weddings alike.
I have got my head a bit more together this week, or at least I’ve had a couple of early nights and a hormonal re-boot (as my husband likes to call it) so am tackling my full schedule head-on. I am in my last week of the Creative University course and the topic is branding. Very exciting, picking colour themes, fine-tuning the business image and being creative! The profit & loss accounting I had to do last week was in need of a bit of creativity – let’s just say it’s a good job I get a lot more out of card-making than the prospect of a bit of pocket money! Despite the bleak financial prospects, the course has really fired up my enthusiasm for setting up my card shop. Every evening I can be found nosing around wordpress techy forums and trying to figure it out bit by bit. Hubby is helping too of course. Sometimes it’s a mystery who is the master and who is the student though.
In other news, an F word update – going well amazingly! I am still losing – another two pounds this week – and am feeling better about my body, which is good. I’ve stopped calorie counting as I’m much more aware now of what I am eating and am eating less anyway. The exercise is getting easier, but I’m having a small setback at the moment with my knees – the joys of getting older. My chiropractor can have a look at them on Thursday when I’m there for a maintenance appointment with my back. She’s a miracle worker so I’ll keep my fingers crossed for one then I can do my Rocky impression again.
Onto today’s creation, and I feel these butterfly cards demonstrate my emerging style so am quite proud! Let me know what you think. I made two colour variations:
The butterfly is an Inkylicious stamp which I have heat embossed in Wow! Earthtone Pomegranate for the red card and Ranger super fine detail gold for the other.
I have used Spellbinders beautiful Stately Circles for the large die cuts and Lacey circles for the little one. The background butterfly card is from Craftwork Cards which I have swooshed over with a Ranger ink blending tool with Brilliance Pearlescent Poppy and Galaxy Gold.
I would like to enter my design into the following blog challenges:
Sweet Stampin’ Challenge – Things with Wings – and also put myself forward for the DT spot
Thanks for stopping by,
