Simple Pleasures

Last weekend’s weather in West Yorkshire was gorgeous, a little glimpse of autumnal sun and warmth. We made the most of it here, drinking up every last available ounce of vitamin D. My little one helped me dismantle the garden furniture and we put it away for the winter. He’s very handy for a 3 and a half year old and was very proud declaring himself ‘a very strong boy!’. Also did a bit of leaf blasting, and although the garden looked tidy by the end of the afternoon, you couldn’t say the same for me, as I appeared to have blasted all the muck up in the air and over myself.

I also did another long walk, thanks to my husband insisting I go, as I really wasn’t motivated at all. Of course he’s always right, and I really enjoyed it once I’d taken that first giant step out of the front door.

Trek trainingI was having a little fight with Runkeeper for the first 10 minutes as it refused to pick up GPS (how rude!) so I think I was closer to 8 miles in the end. It was another good route uphill and a lap around Golden Acre Park before heading home again.

I really love Yorkshire!

I must admit I am beginning to think the Sahara Trek won’t be going ahead, in view of the Ebola crisis. I can’t see how travel in and out of West Africa will continue as the disease spreads, I think the threat that Ebola poses has been grossly underestimated and only now is the developed world beginning to sit up and take notice. Rest assured to those that have kindly and generously donated, all the sponsorship will still go to support the great work that PANDAS does (or probably already has). I will be keeping my fingers crossed that an alternative will be presented, as I still dearly want to do the challenge. Let’s hope Ebola gets under control soon, for the sake of all the many thousands of people and healthcare workers it is affecting.

Onto Card Therapy and I am sharing a clean and simple card I made for a little girl’s birthday:

The image is ‘A Special Gift‘ by LOTV, coloured with some new Promarker colours, well, old ones that were on sale, but new to me! It is the Spring/Summer 2013 Limited Edition set, which has the gorgeous colours you can see on the little girl – Pineapple Crush, Oasis, Spring Lilac and Peony – and below. I chose Oasis for the dress colour but didn’t have a near enough match in ink pads or card stock so I cut ‘Mia’ out in white and coloured it with the Oasis Promarker to match. I also did the same with the Craftwork Cards sentiment edges. I found the Promarker set (12 colours plus a blender) on sale for £10 in among the full price sets and singles in my local Hobbycraft. Love a bargain!

I would like to enter this card into the Cute Card Thursday Challenge #343 – One Layer Card.

Phew! Only taken me 3 days to write this post…

  1. Bargain hunter of the year! This is lovely and fab colouring with your new acquisition (wow spelling test here).
Clever idea to colour the MIA too to match. You make me feel tired walking all that way Emma! makes a papercraft show a doddle for you!
