Half Term Mayhem

We’re in the thick of half-term mayhem in our house, everyday is a marathon of mess, mithering and fighting a losing battle of maintaining my mental health!!! Actually it’s not been that bad so far (thank goodness the higher dose of my meds have kicked in!), the boys seem to have developed a whole new imaginary world of role play games and have been playing lovely together with only sprinkling of scrapping. They think themselves hilarious when they are winding me up though, and it was quite maddening when they spent 10 minutes repeatedly unwinding the garden hose that I was trying to put away yesterday. Although I secretly love it when they work in brotherly cahoots, the scamps. We have had a relatively quiet half term so far, and although I do feel tiny pangs of guilt that we are not doing the 1001 half term activities that every one else seems to be doing, between the three of us we’ve really needed a slower pace this last 10 days or so. From the 5th birthday party (27 children – aaaarghh!) for our eldest at the start of half term (requiring organisation akin to a royal wedding), more Lego to build than any Master Builder, thank you cards for all that new Lego, horrible lingering colds all round, signing Wills (eek – officially old now!), a brief vomiting bug, another party, the dentist, arrival of new bunk beds… not really that quiet after all! Is it bedtime yet??!

Another lovely request last week for a bright Christening card that didn’t have to be religious! This is what I came up with:

Christening CardFirm favourite ‘Bang the Drum‘ stamp from Lili of the Valley, coloured with Promarkers, and edges inked with distress ink. I had an ‘old photo’ theme in mind.

Bang the DrumI heat embossed a little wooden car with clear gloss after colouring it with the matching Promarker (Bright Green).

Heat embossed carI would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

LOTV October Monthly Challenge – Anything Goes (4th and final entry!)

As You Like it Challenge #39 – Favourite Style – Cute or Elegant I am a definite fan of both, but I think having small children lends itself to many more opportunities for ‘cute’, which means all the more fun for me! I really enjoyed making this bright super-cute card!

  1. this is lovely Emma, what fantastic colouring…I love this image. that little car is so cute too. Sounds like a hectic half term to me …but it will be all to quiet when they return to school! Hugs xx

  2. Love the birthday cake, we’re in the same boat here except it was Doc McStuffin’s characters on the cake (& now all over the house!) with just extended family as the birthday girl isn’t at school yet. Beautiful christening card, the bright colours look lovely and it’s definitely cute & elegant I think 🙂
