Christmas Crafting and the Tour de Yorkshire

Nevermind Halloween, I’ve had a Christmas crafting treat today – an all-day workshop at Lili of the Valley with the lovely¬†Dawny P! I’ve been looking forward to this for a couple of months, it was planned as a post half-term relaxation session! It certainly worked. Dawny P is amazing and gave us five beautiful Christmas creations to make. Think I need a lot more practise to improve my creativity!

This was my favourite – a Triangle Joy Fold Card (LOTV Tutorial).

I had a minor craft corner disaster this week when I put ‘just one more’ crafty item on one of my shelves and it fell down. Oh dear. Of course I never do anything by halves so decided to repaint and revamp my little craft space, despite the fact there aren’t enough hours in the day and I’ve only just finished decorating a bedroom. It’s currently filled, sanded and one coat done, but the down side is my craft stash is in disarray which makes it pretty difficult to get focussed and creative. However I did make a little wall hanging for my niece this week, and even though it looks decidedly boring next to Dawny’s creations above, I will share it, purely for the blogging process!

Lastly, seeing as I have been painting everything in sight, I painted a deep box frame for the anniversary card I made for my husband (Sealed With an Email) and added some Card Candi:

It is hard to know what to do with your cards that are kept ‘in-house’ after the event has passed. Leave them out on display until they fade in the sunlight? Hoard them away? Certainly not for the recycling bin! My husband saw me putting the frame and card together and said “that’s a bit girly for the bedroom wall isn’t it?” Soon changed his mind when I reminded him that it was his anniversary card – speedy back peddling ensued. Talking of peddling, since his marathon accomplishment from a few weeks ago, he has been looking for a new challenge to inspire him so has recently borrowed a bike from a ‘cycle to work’ trial. However the only bike they had left is in the style of ‘Call The Midwife‘ so we’ve been waving him off to work this week as he rides off like a 50’s nurse, bolt upright. Needless to say, a few days in, and I was ordering him a gel seat for said bike as he was struggling to sit down… My favourite retort – “When you’ve given birth to a 9lb baby, THEN and only THEN will I have sympathy!!!

Here’s to a relaxing Sunday!

  2. Ha ha you are so sweet! I’m slow too but Dawny does all the prep for you so that helps! The workshops are held in a room off the main shop so you can go and do a bit of shopping in the breaks! In fact I just had a basket in the room and kept adding to it until the end of the day! Didn’t get any of the new stamps but did buy an art pad, new paper pad and a Christmas sentiment set, plus some new flowers – so watch this space! Thank you for your compliments x
