Beautiful Babushkas

Following on from A* Teacher stamping, along came some Beautiful Babushkas! This set was released by Hunkydory back in March and who doesn’t like Russian Dolls?!Beautiful Babushkas

I played Babushka in a school play once, long, long ago – I remember I loved wearing a red scarf on my head! I also made a Russian doll card back in 2013, one of my early Card Therapies, and I think the dolls were from a template in Papercraft Inspirations. Have a look at these bashful beauties –

Beautiful BabushkasBack to 2017 and another female birthday, this time I wanted to make good use of my Hunkydory Beautiful Babushkas stamp set. Utilising the same masking technique as in the previous post, I attempted a ring of Russian dolls:

Beautiful BabushkasThe ring didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted it to, but it didn’t bother me too much so I carried on regardless. With masking, it is important to stamp from the foremost image and work your way backwards, which I made difficult for myself by attempting a circle! I couldn’t quite get my brain to think before I stamped… The flowers are a great addition to this stamp set, matching with the apron of the largest doll; I thought they would be great as corner embellishments for this card.

Beautiful BabushkasI adore all the pretty little details on these stamps, and enjoyed brightly colouring them with my Promarkers. Ruby red Liquid Pearls looked cute on the cheeks.

Beautiful BabushkasI masked the sentiment to have a little doll peep out from behind it, decorated with Buttercup Liquid Pearls and added the little border strip from the same stamp set underneath.Beautiful BabushkasSweet aren’t they? I love the end result.

I have in mind to make a felt or fleece Russian doll creation, if that project ever becomes a reality I shall share it!

Thanks for reading,

Emma x

    • Aw thank you x I still make a lot of cards but never blog them! It’s always on a want-to-do list so just trying to make a bit more effort to get them documented x I miss your blog too! Busy enough work being a mother isn’t it? xxx
